Hard to find sterling silver & turquoise bracelet designed by Carl Luthey. These pieces are prized finds today! This piece is set with a turquoise stone that has the attributes of the Blue Diamond Mine. It is surrounded with fluted buttons and a stamp decorated repoussé fan. It is constructed of three highly stamp decorated carinated cuffs that are joined at the terminal tips with bars and behind the stone.
Measures 1 1/4" wide. Interior measures 5" plus the opening of 1 1/8". Weight: 43.6 grams.
Some tarnish. Extremely well made.
✅ Carl W Luthey was active in the 1960s through the 1970s had excellent Navajo Silversmiths working for him making the jewelry that he designed. Some of the artists that worked with him were did very distinctive and recognizable work. Some of those artists were Luke Billy Yazzie and Louise and Ramone Platero.
The Carl Luthey Studio stick figure hallmark is inside the bracelet and repersents the initials of the designer instead of the artist. Some pieces had both the hallmark of the shop and the artist. The head is a C, the arms are a W and the legs have an L in them. Some people believe that the "L" is a phallus instead of an "L". Carl died January 31, 1975 in Albuquerque, NM. Handmade.
