Early Navajo Appliqué Cuff Bracelet in Sterling Silver
Early Navajo sterling silver cuff bracelet. The traditional Santa Fe style or Indian rug design was done with an overlay appliqué technique.
This piece is hard from being heated very hot when made and it does not adjust pr bend. It has some small cracking that does not compromise the integrity of the piece. They feel rough to touch with your fingers, but now when worn on the wrist.
It has a name and address scratched inside. "Matina" inside of an oval. Then Matina White Box 20 and I cannot make out the rest.
Measures 1" wide. Interior measures 5 1/8" plus the opening of 1 3/4". For a wrist that measures 7". Weight: 42 grams.
Tarnished and in original patina. It is highly advised to not polish this piece. C. 1920.
Not marked with metal purity. Acid tested sterling silver or higher. This piece was made with sheet was hand made of melted silver items such as coins and teapots.
