Early Navajo hand wrought silver fluted button earrings. These buttons were made and worn on Navajo clothing in the later 1800s through the mid-1900s. They may have had shanks on the back at one time, I cannot tell. The twisted wire "Rope" was added when they were made into earrings. They were likely screwbacks that were converted to modern pierced earrings.
The buttons measure 3/4" in diameter and 1 1/2" long. Total weight: 7 grams. No hallmarks. Buttons c. 1900.
