Vintage sterling silver concho belt by Mary and Doug Hancock. Their famous company is called Mummy's Bundle.
This belt is called The Bridal Concho & Black. It is of waxed linen. The belt is done by hand macramé with bridal lace round conchos of sterling silver. They are separated by wooden black hair pipe tube beads, Navajo clothing buttons of sterling silver.
This belt is an estate find. It had a missing pipe tube. I wrote to Doug and Mary and they were kind enough to send me one replacement bead and some waxed linen. The bead was not long enough, so I added one antique Navajo hogan bead which fit perfectly. There is a close-up of this repair.
This belt measures 39" long end to end. Belt is 1 1/4" wide and the conchos are 2" in diameter. The wide part of the belt is 26" long. Will make a great hatband.
Weight: 209 grams. The linen has wear and some soiling. I thought that it was very soiled until I saw the new linen that was sent and it is a dingy, rustic brown.
This belt retails new for $1438.00
