Stamp Decorated Navajo Pearls in Sterling Silver
Vintage "Navajo Pearls" beaded necklace from my personal collection. This is the only pair that I have owned that I have worn and kept in my jewelry box. The hogan bench beads were hand formed and hand soldered. If you look at the holes they were hand punched from the inside out and then soldered together. Many of the solders have file marks from hand finish work. You can view this in the close up photos.
Stamping was done by hand with dye stamps.
Measures 22" long. Hogans are graduated from 12mm to 18 mm in diameter. Stamping is about 1/2 up. Weight: 41 grams.
I bought this many years ago from a woman whose husband owned these. They were his mother's wedding beads. They were Navajo. These were on original chain that was black with tarnish and the chain was broken. When I purchased them, they were wrapped in brown paper. I replaced the chain with new, strong chain. Beads are tarnished. From what the woman could figure they are C, 1920 to 1930.
