Sterling Silver Turquoise Bracelet by Navajo Ben Chapo S
VIntage signed Navajo sterling silver and turquoise cuff bracelet.
This is a big and bold piece. It's size is hard to capture in the photos. The mannequin hand is life sized.
It was made and hallmarked by Navajo artist Ben Chapo.
The stone is a huge natural turquoise from the Stormy Mountain mine in Nevada. I believe this mine is closed and has been for a long time. This is a very nice specimen. The stone measures 2 1/8" x 1 5/8". The bracelet is almost 3" wide. The inside measurement is 5 3/4" plus the opening of 1 3/8".
The stone is embellished with twisted wire, stamp decorated raindrops and hand wrought leaves.
The cuff is constructed of 5 carinated cuffs that are joined at the stone, terminal tips and at the applied hand stamp decorated double carinated bars that serve as decorations and support for this huge stone.
It is tarnished from age. I have not cleaned or polished it and I suggest that it is left just as it is now.
Weighs 119.6 grams.
