Early Navajo Fluted Button Earrings in Sterling Silver Pierced Post

Early Navajo pierced post earrings. They have two sizes of old fluted buttons. It appears that they were repurposed as the large ones have solder marks inside from a button shank. These buttons were worn by the Navajo women on their velvet blouses in the 1800s to 1930s. They are marked sterling. Earrings are pierced post and it would be my guess that the buttons were made into earrings in the 1980s. They are 1 3/4" long. The larger button is 1" in diameter and teh smaller is almost 1/2" in diameter. They are tarnished and it is advised to never polish them. Leave the patina as is. Weight: 7.7 grams.
