Wonderful vintage Hawaiian puka shell choker necklace.  The necklace has 100% natural puka shells that are rustic and average 8mm indiameter. The shapes of the shells are round to oblong and the way they are strung gives it a rustic style.  It is on nylon and has a tarnished barrel clasp. The nylon is hand knotted at the clasp. These shells have natural holes, great wear from the ocean and sand and are bleached white by the sun. Some of them are a beautiful natural beige color that I do not see often. They have not been polished and have an eggshell surface.

Necklace is 16 3/4" long and it is a choker. It has some bends from being inside of a jewelry box. It will be hanging out while waiting for a new home, but you may want to restring it.  Weight: 41.5 grams. Fine, collectible and valuable necklace. C. 1970.
