Early Navajo wrought sterling silver dress clip. The decoration is outstanding. Thunderbird or eagle with great stamp decoration that includes two rattlesnakes in his tail. 

Measures 1 3/4" by 1 1/2". Beautiful original patina with silver polish in the stamping. Weight: 11 grams.  

Clip is strong; spring is good.  Patent number 1852188 was issued on April 5. 1932. It is for a "Brooch or Clasp" invented by Elisha A. Phinney and assigned to Geo. H. Fuller & Son Co., according to Google patents. The patent was filed on February 17, 1931. 

A very rare piece.
