Vintage sterling silver pierced post earrings made in Mexico. They are set with fine sugilite.  Often called the purple turquoise, it is not turquoise at all. ( I did gem test them) This is the old mine sugilite with a rich warm purple color. Stones are 16.5mm by 11.5 mm. The earrings are 1 1/4” long. Weight is 8.5 grams. This color of sugilite is much harder to find now as I heard that the original mine is now depleated and closed. The new sugilite is a bluer color. Marked 925 and Mexico.
